The Batavia Public Library is open for curbside materials hold pickup and printouts pickup. Batavia Public Library cardholders can place items on hold or create a print job from home. Library staff will contact customers when holds or printouts are ready and will schedule a pickup time.
Please note, we will adjust our plans as things continue to develop. In addition, we will be processing items in the order they were requested, starting with the backlog of materials requested before the Library closed. Thank you for your patience with extended waiting periods during this time!
Batavia Public Library cardholders can place items on hold using the Library catalog or by calling the Library at (630) 879-1393. Holds are not available immediately. There is a limit of 10 holds per patron per week.
NEW! You schedule your pickup time: once your holds are on the shelf, we will email you a link to the calendar schedule. (If you do not have an email address on file, staff will call you.)
At your scheduled pickup time, park in the designated pickup area by the Library’s main entrance and call (630) 879-4772. Please have your library card number ready.
Pull up to the table at the main entrance.
Library staff will set bagged materials on a table for you to pick up, avoiding any direct contact. The bag is yours to keep.
Drive-thru hold pickup will be available:
Mon.–Thur.: 10am–6pm (or until bins are full)
Fri.—Sat.: 10am–4pm (or until bins are full)
Return bins will be placed in front of the Library’s main entrance Monday through Saturday beginning at 10 am. Due to limited staffing and storage space, returns will be accepted each day until the bins for that day are full.
During the curbside pickup phase, Batavia Public Library will print up to 20 black-and-white pages (or 3 color pages) per patron per week, free of charge. Available to BPL cardholders only.
See complete curbside printing instructions.
I returned my materials, but I still see them on my account.
Please allow 7 days for items to be checked in. Don’t worry, all late fees are waived during this period!
Should I bring my own bags?
No need! Your materials will already be bagged.
Should I wear a mask?
Yes, customers must wear masks when picking up their materials.
Why can’t I return my materials at the regular book drops?
Please use the return bin in front of the Library to ensure the process of quarantining items runs smoothly and to safeguard the health of our customers and staff.
How can I check out my holds?
Staff will ensure your materials are checked out to you when you arrive to pick them up.
Were your items checked out before the Library closed in March 2020?
We extended the due date of anything checked out before March 17, 2020, to July 13, 2020. These items will generate overdue fines on your account. However, we will remove the fees upon check-in of these returned items. Items not returned 42 days after the due date, are billed as LOST.
Were your items checked out after June 16, 2020?
Items checked out beginning June 16, 2020, or later have a loan period of 3 weeks with up to 2 renewals allowed. These items will not generate overdue fines, but again, items not returned 42 days after the due date, are billed as LOST.
How soon can I expect to pick up my requested materials?
Wait times will depend on availability and may be increased during this time period.
Can I still donate items?
At this time, we will not be accepting donations until further notice.
