Friends Volunteer Opportunities

The Friends of the Batavia Public Library is an entirely volunteer group. The annual book sales are one of their largest volunteer efforts. Additional volunteer opportunities with the Friends are also available.

To help with the book sale or for more information, call (630) 879-8220.

Book Seller –  Work a shift during book sales.

Book Sorter  –  Work during the year sorting donations.

Book Researcher/Lister  –  Work during the year with the Internet to identify valuable books. List these books for sale on Amazon.com.

Book Sale Helper – Help set up the book sale, work during the book sale.

Alphabet Gardener –  Maintain, weed, water, transplant our Alphabet Garden, outside the Youth Services Department.

Community Liaison – Contact schools, nursing homes, shelters, jury commissioner, etc, to find homes for some of our extra books and magazines.

Special Events – Assist as needed, serve as host, for special events, author visits.

Statement of Mission

The mission of the Batavia Public Library is to provide and ensure access to materials and services to meet the lifelong learning needs of residents and organizations, as well as to create a welcoming place to gather, exchange ideas, and participate in cultural events.
