The Friends of the Batavia Library are dedicated to promoting, improving, and assisting the library.

Book sales are held between 9:15 am and 1 pm on the second Saturday of the month (except in June). Sales are held in the FriendSpace on the lower level of the Library.

The mission of the Friends is to:

  • communicate the Library’s needs to the community and local governmental bodies
  • enrich the cultural opportunities available to the community through the Library
  • share the enthusiasm for books and other materials and the ideas they engender
  • solicit volunteers for activities of the Library and the Friends organization
  • supplement Library services not provided by public funds

By joining the Friends you will:

  • have fun
  • enjoy the satisfaction that comes from helping to enrich the lives of the citizens of Batavia by promoting the Library as the cultural center of the community

The Friends of the Batavia Public Library are dedicated to promoting, improving, and assisting the Batavia Public Library. We are a 501(c)(3) organization, with all donations fully tax-deductible. If your employer has set up a Matching Funds Program, we are legally qualified to accept these funds. This is a way to double your donation to the Friends of Batavia Public Library.

We are members of Friends of Libraries USA (ALTAFF). ALTAFF is a national organization whose mission is to motivate and support state and local Friends groups in their efforts to preserve and strengthen libraries and to create awareness and appreciation of library services.

Statement of Mission

The mission of the Batavia Public Library is to provide and ensure access to materials and services to meet the lifelong learning needs of residents and organizations, as well as to create a welcoming place to gather, exchange ideas, and participate in cultural events.
