  • Grab & Go,  by appointment – come inside the building to pick up your holds, browse the stacks, check out materials, and take advantage of other services.
  • Curbside Pickup, no appointment – pickup your materials without entering the building. NOTE: new hours. See information below.

Come into the library to browse the shelves, pick up holds, check out materials at the Check Out Desk or self-checkout stations. Please keep your visit in the library under one hour.

  • Tues., Thurs.: 12–8pm
  • Sunday: closed (reopening 10/11 from 12–5pm)

To help prevent the spread of COVID-19 here is what you can expect when you return to use the Library:

  • Face masks are required by all patrons and staff.
  • New capacity limits will be enforced.
  • Keep your time in the Library under one hour.
  • Other items and areas that will remain temporarily unavailable or closed to the public: Furniture, water fountains, children’s play area, meeting and study rooms.

We ask that you keep your visits as brief as possible in order to minimize risk for everyone inside our libraries.

CURBSIDE PICK UP

When your holds are ready for pick-up, you will receive an automated hold notice from SWAN by either email, text, or phone (whichever method you have chosen for your account).

When you arrive at the Library, you can request your holds – no appointment needed:
• Park your car (if driving)
• Call the Circulation department at (630) 879-1393 Option 1
• Provide your Library card number
Circulation will put the bagged items on the curbside pickup table (located outside front doors under the portico) for you to collect.

Help us keep the Library open for our patrons

To ensure the health of both our patrons and staff
patrons are required to wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth
maintain a safe social distance of six feet from others
limit visits to the scheduled appointment time
We’ll also continue monitoring and limiting the number of patrons admitted to the library.

Curbside Printouts

During the curbside pickup phase, Batavia Public Library will print up to 20 black-and-white pages (or 3 color pages) per patron per week, free of charge.

Reserve computer time

Internet computers in the Adult Services department will be available on a limited basis by appointment. Call 630-879-1393 ext. 2 to make your appointment.

  • Return bin in the Lobby
  • Online public access catalogs (OPACs) and self-check stations are available
    Self-check stations now accept credit cards (and debit card used as credit cards), including contactless payment options
  • In-person assistance at the Check Out Desk, Youth Services Desk, and Reference Desk (with limitations), which will include registering (or renewing) library cards, converting eCards to regular cards, and accepting payments
  • Internet computers in the Adult Services department will be available on a limited basis by appointment.
  • Photocopiers, scanner (in Local History Room), and public-access fax machine
  • Chapters Coffeehouse & Café plans to reopen during hours when the building is open to the community for drinks and sweets only
  • Services may be added (or adjusted) as circumstances warrant.
