Seeds

Description:

The Seed Library features a variety of seeds, including vegetables, fruits, flowers, and herbs. It even includes birdhouse gourd seeds.

Seed libraries allow seasoned gardeners to experiment with different seeds or varieties than typically they might grow, and hope-to-be gardeners to try their hand at gardening without financial concern should some seeds fail to germinate.

With the cost of groceries growing more expensive, more people working from home with time to devote to their gardens, and climate change affecting commercial farming operations, it’s an ideal thyme to offer residents this wonderful option.

We have an array of resources available to help novice and seasoned gardeners alike. Visit our catalogue at tinyurl.com/yhb4vwmy to help you get started or reap the fruits of your expanded knowledge!

The Seed Library is open to Batavia residents, regardless of whether they have a Batavia Public Library card.

Seed packets are free, and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

To ensure we may share with our neighbors, the Seed Library is limited to five packets per person per season. There is a limit of two packets per variety per household.

Check out seeds by visiting the Library’s Reference Desk, located on the main level. Informational handouts also are available at the Reference Desk.

The Library is not responsible for the failure of seeds to germinate.
