Suspend Your Holds

If you have requested an item, but you want to delay its pick-up date, you can suspend/freeze the hold on that item, keeping your place in line. For example, if you are going on vacation and don’t want to miss getting your requested items, you can suspend/freeze the hold before you leave and set a date for the hold to resume/unfreeze after your return.

To freeze an item:

  • Sign in to My Account
  • Click “Holds” to view your items on hold
  • Select the check-box next to the item(s) that you would like to freeze
  • Click “Suspend Hold(s)”
  • Fill in the start and end dates for your hold suspension
  • A calendar icon in the first column to designates your suspended items

Your items will unfreeze on the date you set. If you would like to unfreeze an item earlier:

  • Sign in to My Account
  • Click “Holds” to view your items on hold
  • Select the check-box next to the item(s) for which you would like to cancel the hold suspension
  • Click “Cancel Hold Suspension(s)”

Note that suspending your hold keeps your place in line. If you suspend holds for an extended period of time and then resume/unfreeze them all at once, you are likely to receive all of those items at the same time.
