To ensure the health of both our patrons and staff:

  • patrons must wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth
  • maintain a safe social distance of six feet from others
  • limit your visit to one hour
  • capacity limits will be monitored.

Come inside the library to browse the shelves, pick up holds, check out materials at the Check Out Desk or self-checkout stations. 

To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, here is what you can expect when you return to use the Library:
  • Face masks are required by staff and all patrons over the age of 2.
  • Some items and areas are temporarily unavailable or closed to the public: Furniture, water fountains, children’s play area, meeting and study rooms.

Use a Computer

Internet computers in the Adult Services department are available on a limited basis. Computer appointments are encouraged. Call 630-879-1393 ext. 2 to make your appointment.

Curbside Printouts

During the curbside pickup phase, Batavia Public Library will print up to 20 black-and-white pages (or 3 color pages) per patron per week, free of charge.

Tues. & Thurs.: 9 am–9 pm

    Text reference service is available during normal Library hours. There is no charge for this service, but your carrier’s standard message rates apply.

CURBSIDE PICK UP (stay outside the Library)

When your holds are ready for pick-up, you will receive an automated hold notice from SWAN by email, text, or phone (whichever method you have chosen for your account).

When you arrive at the Library, you can request your holds – no appointment needed:

• Park your car (if driving)
• Call the Circulation Department at (630) 879-1393 Option 1
• Provide your Library card number
• Circulation will put the bagged items on the curbside pickup table (located outside the front doors under the portico) for you to collect.

  • Online public access catalogs (OPACs) and self-check stations are available
    Self-check stations now accept credit cards (and debit card used as credit cards), including contactless payment options
  • In-person assistance at the Check Out Desk, Youth Services Desk, and Reference Desk (with limitations), which will include registering (or renewing) library cards, converting eCards to regular cards, and accepting payments
  • Internet computers in the Adult Services department will be available on a limited basis. Computer appointments are encouraged. Call 630-879-1393 ext. 2 to make your appointment.
  • Photocopiers, scanner (in Local History Room), and public-access fax machine
  • Notary service is available; please call 630-879-1393 ext. 2 before your visit to verify that a notary will be available
  • Services may be added (or adjusted) as circumstances warrant.
