Voter registration

The Batavia Public Library offers voter registration services at the Check Out Desk.

Eligibility

To be eligible to register to vote, a person must:

  1. Be a U.S. citizen
  2. Be 18 years of age by Election​ Day; or 17 years of age to register to vote in a general primary or consolidated primary if the individual will be 18 on the date of the immediately following general or consolidated election.
  3. Reside in the precinct for 30 days prior to the next election.

Identification

Two forms of identification are required to register to vote. One of which must be a photo ID, and one must include the individual’s current residential address.

Acceptable forms of identification include:

  1. Driver’s License/State Identification Card
  2. Social Security Card
  3. Public Aid Identification Card
  4. Current Utility Bill
  5. Employee Identification Card
  6. Student Identification Card
  7. Lease or contract for residence
  8. Credit Card
  9. Civic Membership Card
  10. Union Membership Card
  11. Professional Association Membership Card

Through the Kane County Clerk’s website, Kane County residents may register to vote online or through the mail, check to see if they already are registered, find their polling place, and view a sample ballot.

Statement of Mission

The mission of the Batavia Public Library is to provide and ensure access to materials and services to meet the lifelong learning needs of residents and organizations, as well as to create a welcoming place to gather, exchange ideas, and participate in cultural events.
